Raksha Bandhan is a carnival of brothers and sisters. On this day sisters bind a special band called ‘Rakhi’ on their brother’s hand.

A rakhi is fabricated of thread, silk thread and can also be cosmeticized of gold as well as silver. In Indian culture, the breakable thread of rakhi is regarded even more powerful than an iron chain as it strongly tie brothers and sisters in the perimeter of mutual love and trust.

Sisters make ready the ‘Pooja Thali’ with kum kum, chawal, diyas, rakhi and sweets. They ritual the god, bind rakhi on the wrists of their brother, and wish for their welfare.
