On the day of Diwali, houses, shops and other buildings are adorn with lighted candles, diyas and LED bulbs. We can see lighting all over. On Diwali day, people pull out their fine clothes, they look happy and are in festive frame of mind. They meet and interchange greetings & gifts with their relations and friends. They also swap sweets. On the Diwali night, Lord Ganesha & Lakshmi, the goddesses of wealth, are revered. People enjoy oneself with crackers and sparklers. They pray for wealth, health and prosperity. This festival is famous all over nation. All people, heedless of caste or create join in the celebration. Diwali festival involve five days long celebration which are celebrated with joy and charm. The 1st day of Diwali is known as the Dhanteras, the 2nd day is Naraka Chaturdashi or Chhoti Diwali, the 3rd day is Main Diwali or Lakshmi Puja, the 4th day is Govardhan Puja and the 5th day is Bhaiya Dooj. Each of the five days of Diwali celebration has its own devout and cultural beliefs. Indian groups living in other countries too celebrate this festival.
Diwali brings us close to our near and dear ones. People of all age category await this festival and look ahead to celebrate it with their loved ones. Every limb of the family takes active part in the Diwali celebration. People piously follow all the rituals that form a part of the Diwali celebrations and pass them on the next generation. Thus this festival also creates a perception of oneness among the people. It becomes the sign of unity. India has been celebrating this festival for thousands of years and pursue to celebrate it even today which is both historical and religious. This festival is very main for Hindus and every year they enthusiastic wait for this festival. This festival also gives us a very good tutorial of winning of Good over evil. One should apply this session in their life and should celebrate this with delight without doing any bad things like gambling.
