Introduction: India is an agricultural nation. Farmers are the spine of Indian society. The people of India are busy in a variety of profession but agriculture or farming is the main work in India. In difference, though they are the spine of the economy still they are facing many problems that not only affect them but also other people. Although farmers dine the entire nation sometimes they can’t even afford two square meals for them and their families.

Importance of Farmers: Before 1970’s India was not self-reliant in producing food grains and imports a large quantity of food grains from other countries. But, when our imports started extortion us then prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri found an alternative and motivated our farmers. In inclusion, he gave the tagline “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” which is remembered till the day. After this, the green revolution started in India and we became self-reliant in food grains. Moreover, we started trading our grains to other countries. Besides, the farmers chip-in around 17% of the country’s economy. But still, they live their lives in penury. They depend only on farming as their main and only job.

Many schemes are being run by the government in an attempt to reduce their shortages. But government policies and programme, regardless being beneficial for them, do not prove successful. Middlemen and traders are taking upper hand because most of farmers are illiterate. Due to which they are not getting the appropriate price for their hard-work.

Aside with this, Indian farmers have to face difficulty like flood & drought. From earliest times till now, the life of the farmers has gone through dearth.

Problems faced by Indian farmers: Indian farmers are struggling. They are suffering from low income, low productivity, and low irrigation. One solution is to increase the productivity of Indian farmers. This can be done by providing better tools, technology, and infrastructure.
